Me, sitting at the desk opposite, fielding some vicious so-and-so’s phone call threatening to sue over a trivial complaint, and Poppy at her desk realising I need cheering up. Yes, I like that.

In fact, I did have a secretary at one time who knew I liked wearing panties and used to show me hers and said “panties” a lot, which was kind of her. Thanks to all the supportive women I have met over the years for your gentle amusement, and your assurance that panties were just underwear at the end of the day, and for your willingness to chat and give detailed advice that made me feel I was accepted as a token woman.

A true comment from a temp we took on for a few months who was doing a psychology course: “As ladies, we have to wear panties, but you don’t. But you do prefer to be like us and wear women’s underwear, and it’s nice, so any advice we as ladies can give about our world, just ask, anytime!!!” She said the office girls wanted to suggest why not wear a dress at work. “The feeling of completeness you would get, in a caring and supportive environment of approving ladies, would only do you good!” The thought left me in hog heaven all day.
