No more free pictures?

Hi AndreasB,

We mooted the point in discussion on the forums some time ago as well more recently announcing our intentions. To be honest, it's not something we really wanted to do. I know some may doubt that, but the fact the site has been free for so long is testament to our desire to keep it free.

What has finaly pushed us over the edge is 2 particularly disturbing email exchanges with parents who were upset and angered to find their kids had accessed this site and visited it regularly. The registration process does not give us any guarantees as to someones age, and threats about getting law enforcement involved, have meant we have had to take steps to ensure that age is checked and verified before people can access pictures.

So, in for a penny, in for a pound. There are a lot of costs that we have simply absorbed and with our desire to get further enhancements and developments into the the site, but lacking the technical skills to do so, we have taken on a part time guy simply to look at putting into place developments that subscribers want such as chat, on line messaging and profiles and so on, hence the price of $4.95.

We did let members know this was happening it just not all members read the forums. We have been talking about this for sometime now but kept it free but things needed to change as we was getting minors coming in and members not giving anything to the site but willing to take what they wanted and say what they wanted know matter if it hurt members feeling. And also to let members post the pictures that they want has long as they do not break the law.

But it will be free to you. If you post pic's then you get the free member ship. So why leave.

I am relatively new to the site but I've been a regular visitor since. While I only have a few pics uploaded I would like them removed. I understand your need to recoup your losses but there are other ways to do so.

Gutted! i like many others have submitted stories and pics but can no longer access them.

Regarding the underage issues did you not think to have some kind of ageverification system put in place ie credit card/non billing or some other system?

Think this is the end for the site if you go down this road requesting payment.

When and how will contributing members be informed of how to access the photos? I have not been a member for long but have actively contributed many pictures already.

there are a lot of what used to be members of this once good site who have posted a bunch of pics, who now not only cant see their own pics...but cant delete them either, you think you have almost 17000 users??? wake up you will be lucky to end up with 500, i know some of the posters on the site, will now require you to delete all their pics....and if you think different, yall in for a wake up call buddy

it seems this message is not getting through.....so I'll repeat it..

If you contribute 10 pics a month, you get access. It's as easy as that.

so, people that do contribute and do post pictures will still keep access.

If you click on the picture galls, the "upload picture" links will appear in the coppermine menu on the top left hand side
